Application Of Aerogels In Long Distance Pipeline Insulation
Aerogels, when the gel removes most of the solvent, the liquid content is much less than the solid content, or the gel network structure is filled with gas and the appearance of solid, that is, aerogel. It is called "frozen smoke" or "blue smoke" because of its light bluish haze. It shows many peculiar properties in the fields of heat, optics, electricity, mechanics, acoustics and so on. It is also called the magic material of changing the world.
The density of aerogel is very low, only 3kg/m_and the porosity is as high as 80-99.8%. The thermal conductivity at room temperature can be as low as 0.013w/(m.k). It is a revolutionary substitute for traditional insulation materials.
In the thermoelectric industry, the conveying distance of steam pipe network approved by the regulations and policies should not exceed 8 km generally. However, there is a big gap between the heating radius and the distribution of heat used in the process of steam conveying. How to reduce the heat loss of steam in the process of conveying, expand the scope of heating, and ensure the terminal temperature and the pressure at the end? It is urgent for us to solve this problem.
Compared with conventional materials, the thermal conductivity of nano-aerogel insulation felt is smaller, and the room temperature is as low as 0.022 W/(m.K), which is about 1/3 to 1/2 of the conventional materials. The thermal conductivity of aerogel insulation felt rises slowly and the thermal insulation effect is more obvious with the increase of temperature. The energy rate is more than 40%, which can effectively reduce the temperature drop and pressure drop along the steam pipeline, reduce the heat loss in the transportation process, and enhance the heating range. At the same time, nano-aerogel insulation felt saves the outer coating material, thereby reducing the total construction cost, improving the economic benefits of steam heating network operation, shortening the investment recovery period.
